My husband and I have dined at Millwrights on the bridge and in the tavern a number of times, but our most recent experience blew us away. We sat in the dining room for our anniversary and the attention to detail to make us feel special made our night feel like a dream. The service, food, drinks and views were impeccable (and I have to add that we are both difficult to impress). We ordered the short rib and duck breast and both agreed it was the best we’d ever had. Millwrights also sources their food locally which is something we both greatly appreciate. We look forward to our next visit, thank you for taking care of us!
We hosted our wedding last month at Millwright's and are still on cloud nine from such a special day! We cannot say enough wonderful things about Millwright's and our experience. Ashley and the team made our wedding dreams come true, and Ashley helped create the most amazing experience for our family and friends. Our guests still rave about our wedding and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff at Millwright's! From our ceremony in the loft, to cocktails and passed appetizers enjoyed throughout the space, to dinner in the main dining room, to dancing in the tavern, every element went off without a hitch. We enjoyed many of our favorite dishes and so many of our guests commented that is was the best meal they had ever eaten (a few favorites included the mini lobster rolls, the meatballs, the johnny cakes, the steak frites, and the olive oil cake and brownie dessert). It was a spectacular day and we would highly recommend Millwright's for a wedding or your next private event.
First time visitors and would go back again. This is an upmarket establishment and you can tell the employees are trained to a very high standard. I'm a very fussy eater, basically I'm a child, so I like my food plain and simple. It's important to me that the server listens and delivers my food the way I want it, so if I ask for just steak for instance without sauce on it, I expect that. My server listened and my food came exactly as I wanted it. Some might find the prices high, but you get what you pay for and you could tell they paid attention to detail. We were celebrating an anniversary and they gave us a glass of bubbly for free and decorated the desert plates with happy anniversary written in chocolate. It was this type of listening and attentiveness that makes the difference. For two meals, two deserts and 2 drinks each the total including 20% tip was 190. We will definitely be back
What a fantastic experience! My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary. We were sat right next to the waterfall, which we loved. We were welcomed with an anniversary card from the staff. We chose the tasting menu and wine tasting menu. Everything was paired well, the service was impeccable. The dining hall was romantic, and although busy, not loud.
We had several nice plates including tuna crudo, foie gras on milk toast (amazing), seared scallops with herbs in a savory broth, and a braised short rib and tortellini in a coconut thai broth that tasted like tom kha. Dessert was special and we had a great experience. They're now catering our Thanksgiving dinner this year. We will be back.
This place was amazing! The entire experience from making reservations, putting a note that it was our anniversary, greeting us and them saying happy anniversary, a card on the table saying they wish us a happy anniversary to the food. We both chose the chef menu which is a 5 course amazing option that I’d highly recommend! You will absolutely leave full to the brim. The drinks were delightful. The service was top notch as well.
I’ve been wanting to go to the Millwright for a while now and decided to finally go to celebrate the big 30. And I’m so glad we have it a try. The the food was amazing- the flavors, the freshness. 12 out of 10 would recommend the chicken and gnocchi. Our server was attentive, kind, personable. Overall, it was a really great experience. We are looking forward to go back to try the chef tasting special text time!
My family treated me to dinner for my Birthday here. The entire table opted to have the chef's tasting. The delivery of the different courses was very slow. The order for our dessert drinks was not taken before our desserts arrived. Hence we finished our desserts and were still waiting for our drinks to arrive. Dirty dishes were not cleared in a timely fashion between courses and the staffs timing was off the whole evening. The bill was dropped off and as soon as my husband paid, the manager came to our table and said we were 40 minutes over our allotted time and needed to leave. We still had our drinks to finish. This was an awful experience, humiliating and a huge disappointment. We were treated very rudely after spending a very large amount of money. We had absolutely no control over the time it took them to serve our table the tasting menu. This experience totally ruined my birthday. My family felt bad that they chose Millwrights for my special occasion. I wrote directly to the owner first about this experience. I wanted to give him the courtesy of advising him about our experience before writing a review. I never heard anything back. They simply don't care about their patrons. They should not be offering a tasting menu when they can't deliver that service within their required time constraints. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you are looking to go out for a nice evening or a special occasion, don't waste your money here. Go elsewhere. There are so many better options in this area that will appreciate your business and treat you as a valued patron.
The most romantic atmosphere we have found in Connecticut. The customer service was superb, the food was amazing and the wine selection was right on point. Tonight's dinner transformed our ordinary Thursday into a remarkable memory. We'll definitely go back soon and hope to see our new friend Ron who took such great care of us tonight.
